Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Environmental Services – Transporter. You will provide essential support in transporting patients safely throughout Hospital. This role ensures timely and efficient patient movement while assisting Environmental Services in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

 

Job Description

  • Transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, beds, and specialized vehicles to and from patient care and clinical service areas as directed by dispatchers or schedulers.
  • Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to and from transport vehicles.
  • Support the care, maintenance, and proper use of departmental equipment.
  • Attend educational programs, in-service meetings, and other departmental meetings as directed.
  • Perform all assigned duties safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
  • Report, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may pose a risk to employees, patients, or visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Skills Required

  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Knowledge of hospital departmental locations
  • Knowledge of basic body mechanics
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills (email, web education, timekeeping applications)
  • Ability to learn departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and write at a high school level
  • Ability to use smartphones for job assignments
  • Ability to work in a standing position and walk for long periods during the shift
  • Ability to maintain good public relations and a courteous, service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene
  • Sensitivity to the needs of others
  • Ability to transport patients safely using transport vehicles and equipment accessories
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients
  • Ability to exercise judgment and professionalism
  • Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally
  • Frequent contact with patients, patient families, nursing staff, clinical service staff, and departmental personnel in responding to requests for patient transportation and equipment needs.
  • Physical demands: Continuous: standing or walking; pushing and/or pulling - often involving considerable weight; repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, and/or elbows - often involving considerable weight. Intermittent: bending &/or crouching; lifting and/or lowering - occasionally involving considerable weight.
  • Working conditions: Frequent: Handwashing. Intermittent exposure of skin to dilute cleaning agents. Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High school diploma/GED; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • Must be able to obtain BLS certification upon hire

 

Additional Requirements

  • Schedule Notes: Varying Day Shifts - 7AM-330pm, 8am-430pm 10am-630pm
  • Dress code: black scrubs while on duty.
  • Must pass back evaluation examination.
  • Parking: Designated employee lots located behind Hospital.

 

Pay Rate

  • $17.00 per hour
