The Cedars is looking for a full-time and part-time Dietary Aides to join our team!
Current full-time shifts available: - Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:00pm with rotating weekends
- Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Current part-time shifts available: - 4:00pm - 7:00pm (16hr/week)
Position Overview: Primary responsibility is to prepare food items in the prescribed method for resident’s meals. Must ensure that all food products have been prepared correctly before serving. Serve the residents in accordance with the planned menu to ensure that residents receive high quality, adequate and accurate foods.
General Summary of Work:
- Follow work assignments and/or work schedule in completing and performing assigned tasks.
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by the supervisor.
- Notify the facility when you will be late and/or absent from work following facility policy.
- Work as a team and cooperate with the nursing department to assure that dining adequately meet the needs of the residents.
- Attend and participate in in-service training programs and department meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent private health care information to assure resident rights are protected.
Foodservice Functions:
- Set up meal trays and/or dining rooms for resident meals according to established policies and procedures. Follow all safe food handling practices.
- Distribute and collect menus per department policy.
- Create and maintain a warm, positive, calm atmosphere while showing a genuine, personal interest in serving the resident’s nutritional needs.
- Serve residents breakfast, lunch and/or dinner in HCC Dining Rooms. Following safe food handling practices to prevent food-borne illness. Follow HACCP procedures.
- Complete all prep work/set up for the next shift.
- Complete all daily cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures for all dining rooms and kitchens.
- Complete all daily scheduled maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Receive and appropriately respond to oral and written communications and directions. Communicate problems and ideas to management.
- Record required information in log books.
- Keep every area of the kitchen clean and organized per required guidelines and regulations.
- Label and date all products used.
Food Safety:
- Assure safe receiving, storage, preparation, and service of food.
- Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, and transportation, using HACCP Guidelines.
- Follow cleaning schedules and maintain equipment to ensure food safety.
- Use proper sanitation and safety practices.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic food service knowledge.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, government agencies/personnel, and general public.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Must be physically able to carry out the physical demands listed below.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to lift and carry in excess of 30 lbs.
- Able to withstand extreme temperatures, hot and cold.
- Able to work long hours, including some evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed.
- Able to interact positively with people of all ages.
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
- Able to deal with frequent interruptions.
- Aware of the possibility of falls, burns from equipment, cuts from knifes throughout the work day and works to perform duties in a safe manner.
