Job Description

Location: Denver (Hybrid – In-office 3 days/week) 

Office Hours: 8-5pm (core hours 9-4pm) 
Reports to: Director of Learner Success 
Employment Type: Full-time 
Pay range: $65,000-70,000/year

As a Career Coach , you'll be a cornerstone of the learner experience. You'll guide participants through the program and into the job search and early career stages, equipping them with the tools, mindsets, and durable skills they need to thrive in today's workplace. This role blends coaching, mentorship, curriculum input, and program innovation in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. 

You'll also be part of a forward-thinking team that's constantly iterating on how to deliver stronger outcomes for our learners and greater value to our employer partners. What You'll Do 

Coaching & Learner Support  

  • Facilitate group coaching sessions focused on building durable skills (e.g., curiosity and growth mindset, time management, professional communication, problem solving, critical thinking) and job readiness. 
  • Provide individualized coaching to learners throughout the program and job search process, helping them build confidence, set goals, and stay accountable. 
  • Offer targeted support for learners that qualify for government assistance (e.g., SNAP), including case management and referrals to community partners when needed. 
  • Guide learners through resume development, interview preparation, professional networking, job search and even upskilling strategies. 
  • Track learner progress, celebrate milestones, and proactively address challenges to ensure program completion, job readiness, and to promote career success. 

Curriculum & Program Development  

  • Collaborate with staff and instructors to provide feedback on professional development and career readiness content. 
  • Contribute to pilot programs and curriculum iterations, helping to continuously improve program delivery and learner outcomes. 
  • Support development and management of alumni programming, including social and professional development opportunities.
  • Align coaching practices with emerging job market trends to ensure learners are competitive in current tech employment landscapes. 

Data & Impact Evaluation  

  • Maintain accurate coaching records and learner data in Salesforce and Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS). 
  • Track progress toward key performance indicators, including graduation rates, job placement, and job retention. 
  • Report on coaching outcomes and insights to internal stakeholders to drive data-informed program improvements. 

Team Collaboration  

  • Work closely with Learner Success, Talent Solutions, and instructional teams to deliver coordinated support for learners and graduates. 
  • Collaborate with external training partners as needed to ensure alignment on learner progress and coaching needs.  
  • Support Recruiting and broader ActivateWork team as needed at career fairs or other community events. 

What You'll Bring 

Professional Experience  

  • +4 years in coaching, advising, counseling, or case management in education, workforce development, or related field. 
  • Experience in or adjacent to the tech industry, or a demonstrated passion for supporting tech career pathways. 
  • Experience working with individuals facing employment barriers such as economic hardship, limited education, or justice system involvement. 
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, coaching methodologies, or motivational interviewing is a plus. 

Skills & Attributes  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust and rapport quickly. 
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and maintain consistent learner engagement. 
  • Proficiency with digital tools and platforms; experience with Salesforce and Microsoft 365 preferred. 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
